Sarah is an early career Nigerian artist based in Calgary. Her practice includes set and costume design, filmmaking, and story creation through multiple mediums and disciplines. She has worked on shows as a designer, collaborated on devised projects with artists and organizations as a creator, and explored storytelling through painting, writing, and performing. Despite her background in Theatre, her curiosity and drive to make art has inspired her to step out of the label of “designer” and embrace her whole self as an artist across disciplines.
As an emerging filmmaker, she is intrigued by the experiences of marginalized people, specifically immigrants – their culture, battle scars, and stories. She is also fascinated by what it means to be human and how the mind is both the most powerful and fragile part of being. She hopes her stories inspire healthy conversations among people who may look different and have different life experiences, but are connected by the common factor of being human.
Sarah is a member of the Associated Designers of Canada.
